David A. Arnold has been the best-kept secret in comedy until now. A 20-year stand-up veteran who has made his living performing, acting and writing for TV and film. David has performed on everything from Comedy Central to BET. He has two Netflix Specials currently streaming produced by Kevin Hart and is currently on tour.
He's a talented writer who has produced several TV shows from "Fuller House" on Netflix to "Bigger" on BET+. David recently added showrunner and creator to his accomplishments by creating a show produced by Will Packer, for internet sensation "That Girl Lay Lay" on Nickelodeon.
Whether you know David A. Arnold from his years on the club circuit or from his work as a writer on Fuller House or you’re just hearing about him for the first time, his new hour It Ain’t For the Weak is a strong second Netflix special.
Arnold’s animated physical comedy elevates his jokes. When he arrives onstage, he immediately sets the mic stage toward the back so he can skip on an imaginary playground or eat bland potatoes at a Bakersfield prison. He can really set a scene, both with subtle movements and his impressions. Arnold uses his voice to the fullest—both literally and figuratively—by bringing us from a whisper to a bellow and focusing on his own personal experiences. He’s a straight-talking club comedian who’s clearly honed his craft.
David A. Arnold sits down with me to talk about his fatherhood journey. He shares some of the values he looks to instill into his daughters as they grow up. In addition we talk about the importance of loading the dishwasher properly. After that we talk about his new comedy special on Netflix called It Ain’t For The Weak.We also talk about his creative process. Lastly, we finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five.

No matter how successful comedian David A. Arnold gets, the Cleveland native and 1986 Beachwood High School graduate always returns home to get the laughs.
That’s a stark contrast from what the 20-year stand-up veteran — who has made his living performing, acting and writing for TV and film — experienced as a teenager making his open-mic debut.
